13a. Can the Plug-N-Go transformer be damaged?

Yes. EasyGate’s Plug-N-Go transformer converts the 230–240V mains supply to 24V AC for the gate automation system. The transformer is rated at 24VAC, 6A (144VA) and is designed for reliable outdoor gate automation use.

Like any electrical transformer, it can be damaged by faults in the customer’s installation. These may include short circuits, damaged or incorrectly connected low-voltage cable, water entering cable joints or connections, excessive electrical load, incorrect wiring, electrical surges or lightning.

If a transformer appears to have failed, disconnect the 24VAC output cable from the transformer before testing it. If the transformer produces approximately 24VAC with the customer’s cable disconnected, the fault is likely to be in the cable, gate controller or other equipment downstream rather than the transformer.

Important: Do not repeatedly reconnect a transformer where a cable or equipment fault is suspected. The cause of the fault should be identified and corrected first, as a short circuit or prolonged overload may permanently damage the transformer.

For safety, 230–240V mains electrical work must be carried out by a suitably qualified person.
